Washington State’s First-Ever Conservative Asian Political Candidates Forum Showcases Unity Across Communities
Bellevue, WA – Washington State made history today, Saturday, at the Stan Head Cultural Center with its first-ever Conservative Asian Political Candidates Forum, highlighting unity and collaboration across diverse ethnic communities. This landmark event demonstrated that, regardless of ethnicity or background, communities across the state are united in their shared vision for the future.
Organized by Sam Sim, State Representative candidate for Legislative District 44, and Lynn Trinh, State Representative candidate for Legislative District 48, the forum was emceed by Bill Cooper, Snohomish County Republican Chairman. The event brought together a diverse group of candidates, all committed to serving their communities and working toward common goals.
Candidates in attendance included:
Sam Sim (State Representative candidate for LD 44), representing the Korean community.
Lynn Trinh (State Representative candidate for LD 48), representing the Chinese community.
Riaz Khan (State Representative candidate for LD 21), representing the Muslim community in Puget Sound.

The Asian Candidates Group emphasized that their efforts will extend far beyond the current election. Their goal is to empower new political leadership, nurture the next generation of leaders, and continue educating, informing, and providing representation for all communities. This ongoing work is focused on increasing awareness and ensuring that all voices are heard within the state’s diverse communities.
During the forum, the audience raised key issues, including undocumented immigration, education, public safety, the rising cost of living, and voter integrity. The candidates engaged directly with these concerns, offering their perspectives on how these issues affect communities and presenting solutions aimed at fostering long-term stability and growth.

[Mill Creek, WA ] – [6/14/2023] – Sam Sim is excited to announce his candidacy for State Representative in Legislative District 44. With a deep understanding of the unique needs and aspirations of the community, Sam is committed to bringing positive change and fostering unity.
Sam has been a resident of Snohomish County and Bothell for 20 years. His journey began when his family immigrated to Honolulu in 1972, seeking a better life. Growing up in ten different states across the U.S. instilled in him a strong sense of commitment to public service and a profound appreciation for America’s diverse cultures. His Korean heritage has inspired him to bridge cultural gaps and work towards equal representation for all communities.
In his roles as the current Snohomish County GOP Outreach Chairman, Vice President of America Korea United Society, and former Vice President of the Greater Seattle Korean Association, Sam has worked tirelessly to unite ethnic and mainstream communities, achieving many firsts during his tenure. These experiences have further fueled his dedication to fostering unity and inclusivity.
Sam brings over 20 years of entrepreneurial experience, having founded three tech companies from scratch, as well as a family restaurant and a wholesale food distribution company. His ventures, including Metasearch, AppJoy! and Apptronic, have grown into significant successes, as digital mobile advertising platforms. Additionally, Sam and his wife Christine have run Teriyaki, etc! Asian Cuisine in Bothell for over twenty years. They also co-founded Go!Teriyaki, an app-based food delivery service, and Go!Bento, a wholesale distribution company, alongside their own line of sauces and glazes. As true and proven entrepreneurs, Sam and Christine understand the value of supporting and advocating for small business rights and opportunities for hard-working people.
Sam’s campaign is centered around the principle of “family first,” recognizing that families are the cornerstone of society. He is dedicated to advocating for policies that support families, including quality education, economic opportunities, and community safety. Additionally, he believes in educational choice, tax regulations that favor small businesses, support for law enforcement, good financial and budgetary stewardship, and reducing government intervention to empower individuals.
To achieve these goals, Sam is focusing on building real relationships through leveraging face to face interactions and developing relationships on a personal level. In addition, with Sam’s digital advertising and tech expertise, he is planning virtual town hall meetings facilitated by a QR code schedule. Leveraging his experience in digital advertising, he plans to enhance outreach through targeted ads on YouTube, Google, and various social media platforms.
Sam warmly invites the community to join his regular virtual town hall meetings, where important issues will be discussed, and concerns and priorities will be heard directly from constituents. These sessions provide a valuable platform for open dialogue and help shape the campaign to better serve the needs of the community.
